Shinzon

The Romulans had this great idea to clone the captain of the Federation flagship, the Enterprise, and through the magic of science-fiction, age the clone and replace the real Jean-Luc Picard with a fake one. However, a very real-world political situation gummed up the works: a new administration took office and decided to can the project.

So, as we learn in Star Trek: Nemesis, Shinzon the Bald Clone has been exiled to the hard mining colony on Remus. Even though he enters the place as a small human boy, he emerges a rebel leader with an ingenious plan to exact revenge on those who created and imprisoned him. Naturally, he succeeds. However, the cloning process he underwent requires a blood transfusion for him to stay alive, and the only donor can be the source of his DNA: Jean-Luc Picard.

Shinzon hatches a plan to lure Picard and the Enterprise to the Neutral Zone, but things fall apart in more ways than one. (The script is the BIG one.) Nevertheless, Shinzon puts up a fight to the bitter end, and the drama of a clone fighting its original to stay alive does have a disturbing irony. To be certain, no one can predict how a clone of one's self will react to the different situations (and hardships) presented. In this case, there can be only one Picard and he realizes there is no room for a Shinzon. It is a sad and tragic story of how situations can turn what could be one of the most noble and moral individuals in the universe into a conniving monster.

INTELLIGENCE - 6: It was all downhill after the scheme to take over Romulus.

POWER - 6: His sickness has made Shinzon physically weak.

VILENESS - 7: His disturbing dalliance with Deanna added an interesting wrinkle to Shinzon's psyche.

SWAY - 7: Intimidating and mysterious, Shinzon does know how to work a room.

PURITY - 9: His obsession with Picard is a matter of life and death, and his undoing.

PHYSICAL - 5: The bald thing works for guys like Picard, Kojak, and Yul Brenner. Not Shinzon.

TOTAL: 40
